JILL ROSELL PHOTOGRAPHY

From the moment I received my first SLR camera some twenty years ago - a 21st birthday present - it was love at first touch. To me it was, and is, an instrument of creation and inspiration, and it transformed the way in which I viewed the world. Born and raised in the midst of the natural beauty of New Zealand, I have since had the good fortune to travel extensively and to experience the wonder and beauty of varied countries and cultures.
Along the way I've discovered that a photograph is much more than a moment, an image, or an emotion. Not only can it serve to capture the true essence of a person or place, it can embody their heart and soul. When this is accomplished the photograph takes on a life of its own and triggers a deep emotional response in the viewer. As a professional photographer and an artist, it is this goal that I seek to accomplish. Each time I raise my lens I strive to capture the heart and soul of my subject.
I'm blessed to call Bend in Central Oregon my home, an area with an abundance of natural beauty and a plethora of wonderful activities. Every day I wake up grateful for where I live, what I have, and who I am. My passion for photography could not have evolved without my husband and two young children. Over the years they have offered me endless enriched moments to capture, moments that perfectly illustrate that a photograph can be so much more than just an image.
My passion in life is to search out these "soul moments" through the lens of my camera. I invite you to join me on this ever evolving and exciting journey, one that will undoubtedly provide intimate and remarkable memories captured forever for your lasting enjoyment.

Capturing some action at CHIMPS INC , Bend Oregon Portrait Photographer.

It began a few months ago with the thought - 'I want to photograph a chimp'... a phone call later, a visit, an elementary school talk and a pile of cheerios necklaces, resulted in my thought becoming a reality.
Today I spent an amazing morning at CHIMPS INC with Herbie, Jackson and Emma who had fun playing and eating Cheerio necklaces made by some 4th grade students.

Chimps Inc. is a nonprofit, wildlife sanctuary dedicated to furthering chimpanzee conservation through education. It was founded by Lesley Day in 1995 in response to the multitude of captive chimpanzees desperately in need of homes.

It was an honor to have this opportunity to photograph three of the chimps who reside at Chimps Inc. I felt a natural bond when I watched them moving and showing such human like mannerisms. I could have stayed there ALL day.

Jane Goodall of course always comes to mind anytime I see a chimp! I have some exciting news to share, she will be visiting Bend Oregon on Oct 8th! Such a wonderful opportunity to see a woman who has had such an impact in the Chimpanzee world.
I look forward to photographing Jane when she visits.

PUPPY LOVE and something NEW coming to BEND Oregon.

It is not hard to fall in love with tiny perfect puppies who are full of unconditional love and ready to share it with their new best friend. That is exactly what I felt when I meet these adorable pups last week. Two girls and two boys and just 4 weeks old.
My two kids (who are equivalent of 10 dogs) came along and got to hold and love on these pups.
Right now a puppy is on hold for our family. I know too well how much work and commitment it takes - really it is another child. In the meantime I get plenty of joy from photographing dogs and fortunately Bend is a designer dog town and has an endless supply of dogs for my kids to give their attention to.

In addition to sharing these cute puppy photos I want to share some exciting news for pet lovers, owners and businesses in Central Oregon.

August 1st 2011, Bend and Central Oregon will be seeing in stores its very own and first PET Magazine.
I will be sharing a selection of pet photos in these quarterly issues and best of all it will be free to all!
I will also be writing a regular photography related article in each issue.
