In 1988, Deschutes Brewery was just a small downtown brewery known for its tasty Black Butte Porter.
By 1992, Deschutes was brewing nearly 7000 barrels, putting a strain on the original 10-barrel brewery at the brew pub. Ready to grow from a boutique to a regional brewery, Deschutes built a new 19,000-square-foot 50-barrel production brewery. The brewery has continued to expand over the years and is now ranked 6th nationally for craft beer sales.
Recently I stopped in with my camera and enjoyed a Brewery Tour. I am a bit embarrassed that it took 10 years of living in Bend before doing so. At least I can say I have enjoyed their beer over the last 10 years!
Do stop in and experience one of their daily tours. Beer samples before and after!
Kaze a Deschutes Brewery fan! |
