JILL ROSELL PHOTOGRAPHY

From the moment I received my first SLR camera some twenty years ago - a 21st birthday present - it was love at first touch. To me it was, and is, an instrument of creation and inspiration, and it transformed the way in which I viewed the world. Born and raised in the midst of the natural beauty of New Zealand, I have since had the good fortune to travel extensively and to experience the wonder and beauty of varied countries and cultures.
Along the way I've discovered that a photograph is much more than a moment, an image, or an emotion. Not only can it serve to capture the true essence of a person or place, it can embody their heart and soul. When this is accomplished the photograph takes on a life of its own and triggers a deep emotional response in the viewer. As a professional photographer and an artist, it is this goal that I seek to accomplish. Each time I raise my lens I strive to capture the heart and soul of my subject.
I'm blessed to call Bend in Central Oregon my home, an area with an abundance of natural beauty and a plethora of wonderful activities. Every day I wake up grateful for where I live, what I have, and who I am. My passion for photography could not have evolved without my husband and two young children. Over the years they have offered me endless enriched moments to capture, moments that perfectly illustrate that a photograph can be so much more than just an image.
My passion in life is to search out these "soul moments" through the lens of my camera. I invite you to join me on this ever evolving and exciting journey, one that will undoubtedly provide intimate and remarkable memories captured forever for your lasting enjoyment.

A Touching Senior Portrait Session with Kyeli, Bend Oregon

It is always a special time for a high school senior when it comes to 'Senior Portrait Season'.
Recently I got to capture a young woman called Kyeli Eastland. It was extra special for me because her mom came along. I have a 9 year old daughter and watching Kyli and her mom together during the session took my mind into the future and made me realize this moment won't be too far away for my Sophie.. already half way there!
I don't usually show the images on the back of my camera but this day I did show one special shot to Kyeli, while she was sitting against an iron fence with autumn colors as a backdrop. She truly was amazed how she appeared. But an even more surprising response was the touching reaction from her mom. Tears were soon streaming down her checks as she held the reflector and directed the light onto her beautiful child.  I thought to myself is this what all mom's do? what is she thinking right now? and will this be me in 9 years?  I hope it is because I want to see my daughter confident and happy like Kyeli  and to have this captured in her senior portrait session - hopefully it will be me capturing the images too.
My goal as a mother is to teach my children the skills to be a joyful confident and happy soul and who can make a difference and be an inspiration in other people's lives and in this world.
I am excited for my daughters next nine years and I can't wait to see who she will be on the day of her senior portrait session. I know I will be proud and happy just like I was the day she got on the school bus all alone at the beginning of first grade.. Maybe I will have tears, but my tears will be of joy and happiness.
I am excited to share below some of the special moments I captured of Kyeli....
